Christy Lawrence is the newest addition to Rice & Associates. She is a native of Canada but currently resides in San Jose, CA. She graduated from the University of Calgary in 1999 with a Bachelor of Commerce, specializing in Accounting. After graduation, Christy joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in Calgary and later transferred to the San Jose office to join the Venture Capital Audit & Advisory group. During her time in the VC group, she was responsible for several prominent venture capital firms, including Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Infinity Capital, Storm Ventures and Draper Richards. She also assisted, researched and co-authored a portion of the national training course on auditing venture capital firms. After five years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Christy joined Acxiom (formerly Digital Impact) working in the finance group and specializing in revenue recognition (SOP 97-2). Acxiom acquired Digital Impact in 2005, at which time Christy left to return to the venture capital and private equity industry. In the summer of 2005 Christy joined Fox Paine as the Controller, and later assumed the role of Vice President of Finance and Controller at the beginning of 2008. During this time she was responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of the management company, an investment fund in excess of $1.5 billion, and an aviation company. It was at this time that Christy was introduced to the aviation industry and developed a passion for it.
Christy’s passion for aviation continues into her personal life. She is married to a pilot who is involved with corporate aircraft management and has started taking flying lessons with a long term goal of owning her own plane.
Christy is a Certified Public Accountant, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the National Business Aviation Association.
