George P. Rice

George P. Rice, a California Certified Public Accountant, has built a practice around high net worth individuals and business aviation. Areas of emphasis include aircraft sales and acquisition planning,  proper entity structure, leasing, financing, sales/use tax avoidance, property tax appeals, apportionments and audits, SIFL rules for personal use, cost disallowance for personal entertainment use, SEC reporting issues, charter management contracts,  fractional ownership programs, as well as private aircraft management under joint ownership programs.

George has been a member of the National Business Aviation Association many years and has attended a variety of NBAA conferences. At the NBAA’s Long Beach Regional Forum in October 2006, George presented An Overview of State Tax Issues.  George has published various articles on the web at www.nbaa.org, the Orange County Business Journal, the Airport Journals and other publications.  Titles include: Personal Entertainment Use of Corporate Owned Aircraft, The Common Carrier Exemption Under California Law, and most recently The Pros and Cons of Joint Ownership. 

George is a native Californian who, after high school, served 5 years in the air wing, U.S. Navy.  After earning an honorable discharge, George attended San Jose State University graduating Suma Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and earned the School of Business’s prestigious Alpha Al Sirat Award as the outstanding graduating senior.  His professional career started with eight years at Arthur Young & Company and continued with corporate positions with both private and public companies as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Secretary and Director. Having over twenty years experience in progressively challenging financial accounting and managerial positions, he began his private practice in 1993.

In his personal life, George is passionate about blue-water sportfishing and travel.  He is a member of several fishing clubs, the Southern California Marine Association and is the founder of VETS GO FISHING, an all volunteer group that takes combat-injured active duty military personnel offshore fishing.
